FURTHER to your report in the the Bolton Evening News on November 30, headed: "Phone box drug fury".

First of all I would like to congratulate Supt Simon Barraclough GMP, and Dr Brian Iddon MP, for taking up the gauntlet to remove these four telephone kiosks at the top of Bromwich Street, The Haulgh. These kiosks have been a focus point for long enough for the drugs and vice trade in this area.

For BT to say the boxes are well used among residents is untrue, as no person would ever go near them as they have become a no-go area for law abiding people.

Make no mistake, BT, we shall be taking up your offer to prove to you the kiosks should be removed, as we are already engaged in collecting signatures from The Haulgh residents. Also BT, perhaps many of these petitioners will be changing their provider to help you rethink your position.

At the same time, may I take this opportunity to give a big thank you to the police chiefs and their officers for the tremendous work they are doing fighting crime and disorder in the area, and to let them know it is very much appreciated by many.
