A NEW generation of internet call boxes is on the way. BT aims to increase the number of e-payphones from 500 to 28,000 over the next five years and believes demand is growing for internet access and email and text-messaging from public kiosks.
A number of the hi-tech kiosks have been installed in Bolton town centre.
Locations will include high street phone boxes as well as shopping centres, airports and rail, tube and bus stations and it is hoped 3,000 will be up and running within a year.
The hi-tech kiosks have already been installed in Bolton town centre.
