HOMEOWNERS in Bolton are being advised to review their home security during the festive season.
They are urged not to position their Christmas tree by a window, where presents could be easily visible.
It is better to hide them somewhere else, preferably where they will be difficult to reach -- in the loft for example.
Expensive presents, such as electronic equipment, should be marked with the postcode and receipts should be kept.
Photographs are also useful if goods ever need to be identified by the police.
Residents should always remember to keep back doors and windows locked, even if they are in the house.
It is very important to check that home insurance covers additional Christmas presents and make sure the sum is adequate.
