MORE than 160 musicians from a Bolton school will be taking part in a festive concert later this month in an evening packed full of Christmas carols and songs.
Pupils at St James's Secondary School, in Farnworth, will be putting on Fanfare into Festivities, on Tuesday December 17, at the school hall. Admission to the concert is free, although voluntary contributions are welcome. All proceeds from the concert will be going towards Winterwatch, a Bolton based charity which helps the homeless.
Barbara Barrett, the Head of music at St James's Secondary School, said that the pupils had been rehearsing hard to ensure that the evening will be a success.
She said: "All the pupils involved in the concert have been practising hard over the past few weeks.
"It's been a great event for team building, with the new Year 7 group getting involved in the concert, as well as the other year groups. This concert has helped them to become settled at the school, because they have been able to get involved in school life. The concert is also important to the school because we're raising money for people who will not be as fortunate as ourselves over the Christmas period. We feel that it is a worthy cause."
