KEVIN Nolan has the feeling the good times are about to return.
The 20-year-old's season has mirrored that of Wanderers so far this season - talented but not producing results.
He admits he has felt low this term as he has struggled to recapture the form of last season when he took the Premiership by storm.
But an encouraging performance as a 50th minute substitute on Saturday has ignited his belief that the bad days are behind him.
He started on the bench on Saturday but an injury to Paul Warhurst five minutes into the second half gave Nolan his chance and he quickly produced one blistering turn and pull back that Youri Djorkaeff should have converted to put Wanderers 2-0 up.
The failure to win the game was a devastating blow to the young Scouser but his performance gave him heart, although he will have to be patient as he will miss Wanderers next game, against Leeds next Monday, because of a one match ban.
Of the season so far he said: "It has not been going as well for me personally as it did last year when everything seemed to go right.
"I didn't have a dip in form and I played every game but two, scoring nine goals.
"I have missed the same number of games already this season that I missed in the whole of last season and I have not been playing as well.
"It has affected my confidence and I am the sort of person who shows it when I am feeling low. The gaffer has pulled me in to talk about it and it is him and the coaching staff who will help to pull me out of it.
"I felt much better on Saturday. Much more comfortable and more like my old self.
"It felt like I was the player I was last season, creating chances and feeling comfortable with my game. Hopefully things are turning around for me now.
"It has been a difficult time for me but the important thing is how you react to it. Everyone can see I have not been performing my best and hopefully the fans can stick by me until I am back to my best again."
Nolan is just as upbeat about the team's prospects of pulling itself out of the current gloom which sees them struggling in the thick of the relegation pack.
"We wil get over it and get back to winning ways, don't worry about that," he insisted.
"We deserved to win on Saturday but that's life in the Premiership.
"We are absolutely devastated to have thrown away a game at the end for the fourth time this season but we know what we have got to do and we will get over it."
