A RELIEVED Graeme Souness admitted that Rovers' lasp-gasp equaliser had been the last throw of the dice for his side.
"When Dwight Yorke hit the bar I thought there was going to be nothing for us from the game but then again you never give up hoping," he said.
The Blackburn boss sympathised to a certain extent with Wanderers on seeing two points snatched away in the dying seconds but felt that over a season those things evened themselves out.
"It happened to us at Tottenham a few weeks ago when we thought we were going to get something out of the game but we conceded a very late goal. But these things happen and I'm sure it will happen again to us at some stage of the season."
Souness also admitted that referee Neale Barry had played over time.
"The ref's assistant held up four minutes and the referee correctly played five. I'm the manager of Blackburn - what else do you want me to say."
Of the game itself Souness felt a draw was a fair result on the balance of the play but thought with the chances his side created, they could have taken all three points.
"As I saw the game they were better than us in the first half and deserved to go in with a 1-0 lead but I felt in the second half we were the better team and it would have been very hard on us had we not taken anything from the game.
"I know Bolton had chances too but they caused us problems only when we were pushing everyone up chasing the goal.
"They broke away on us three or four times and they will look at that and think they could have finished us. Brad Friedel made a good save in the second half to stop Djorkaeff and I think that was something of a turning point.
"Yet I would still point to the goal opportunities we missed. On another day, with the strike power and flair we have in the team, we would take those chances.
"We felt if we could get it back to 1-1 we could go on and win the game. But when you only score with three seconds to go, the chance of winning the game goes out of the window."
