A PUB landlord was stabbed in the head and chest with a screwdriver after he confronted a burglar.
The 51-year-old publican, who has not been named, disturbed the burglar in the bar area of the George and Dragon in Rochdale Old Road, Bury, after hearing noises.
A struggle began and the landlord was stabbed several times in the head and chest with a screwdriver. The burglar, who was in his early 20s, escaped through a window before getting into a waiting car.
The landlord was taken to Fairfield General Hospital, Bury. His condition was described as stable and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
