A MOTORISTS' group has claimed that two thirds of drivers in Bolton would fail their written driving test if they had to take it again, and many could be unsafe on the road.
Bolton Advanced Motorists, which has just been given a grant to help organise advanced driving courses, says many people forget the basics of driving after passing their L-tests.
The group is offering cut-price advanced driving lessons after it was awarded the grant by the Bolton Council for Voluntary Service.
Drivers aged 25 or under are being charged £30, a saving of £45 on the usual price, while those aged 55 or over are being charged £40, a discount of £35.
Places are available for February and May.

Mr German said: "Young drivers are in the highest risk bracket, sadly accounting for a disproportionate number of road deaths.
"Older drivers, while accounting for far fewer road deaths, are at risk from minor accidents and would benefit from refreshing their driving skills."
Vice-chairman Hugh German claims fewer than half of motorists know the safe driving distances at any speed. He said: "This would seem to imply that many drivers would benefit from a reassessment or refreshment of their knowledge and driving techniques."
