A BURGLARY proved to be no laughing matter for staff at a primary school when a thief broke in and stole 14 Peter Kay tickets.
Now the staff at Westhoughton Primary School hope to wipe the smile off the faces of the thieves by warning the comedian's fans to stay clear of illegal ticket touts.
The tickets were stolen from the secretary's office last weekend.
Thieves broke into the building by stripping slates from the roof and got away with a strong box, containing the tickets and a small amount of cash.
Worried teachers contacted the Lowry, who have assured them that their seats will be available despite the loss of the tickets.
But headteacher Sue Marshall fears the thieves may try to sell the £15 to £17 stolen tickets on to unwary Peter Kay fans.
Seats for the Bolton comedian's shows are so sought after at the moment that touts are managing to sell them for hundreds of pounds above their face value.
