EAGLEY beat Fulwood 3-2 in their West Lancs Premier division fixture but only after a titanic struggle.

After an incident packed first half Eagley led 2-1 through Neil Matthews and a Tony Burnett penalty, Darren Maloney replying for the visitors.

When Fulwood were reduced to 10 men on 40 minutes a victory for the Villagers seemed a formality but it proved not to be as the 10 men laid siege to the Eagley goal in the second half.

Only some stout defending kept them at bay before Tony Burnett made sure of the points with a 75th minute strike while Fulwood converted a consolation penalty in the 85th minute.

Eagley reserves notched their third win in a row beating Blackrod Town 3-2, goals from Bentham, Longthorn and Roberts.

On Saturday Eagley firsts entertain BAE Barrow.
