MY picture last week of the Old Original Bay Horse in Horwich brought back memories to reader Dave Cheston, who tells me that he was a regular there in the 1960s, and also used to work there as a waiter and barman at weekends.
"It was always very busy," he tells me, "and there was live music from a good group called 'Angel and the Haloes'.
"The pub, as you say, was better known as the 'Long Pull' by the regulars, because it was a long pull on the beer handles before you got a pint. The licensees at the time were Ernie and Jean Raybold, really decent people and a pleasure to work with."
I also had a call from reader Richard Quinlan, who was a pianist in the pub at about the same time.
