BURGLAR has 35 convictions for 119 crimes, but judge rules he has one last chance.

Ask anyone who has been burgled what they think -- much of it would be unprintable. The prisons are overflowing because there is so much crime and terrorism raising its head.

There are many uninhabited islands around our coast which could be used to house prisoners. And, before the do-gooders start to shout, I would inform them that, during the Second World War, many servicemen and women were posted to those islands, billeted in army huts, and their only comfort a pot-bellied stove, doing service for their country, not committing crimes.

The Lord Chancellor said people are not disturbed by first or second time burglars not going to prison. If there was a referendum, I know where I would place my bet. If their security was removed, they would soon come into the realm of reality.

The police are fighting crime with their hands tied behind their backs in a thoughtless job that they do to the best of their ability. The Government came to power on the slogan "tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime". I don't know what the country would have been like if they had been soft.
