IT MIGHT be mid-winter but there is still interested carp in the fisheries as last week's Bradshaw Pairs Cats and Dogs Winter League match proved.
Yet again 46 anglers braved the freezing weather and broke in excess of 4 inches of ice in order to fish.
Winner on the day was John Battersby of BAS Sensas who caught three carp from permanent peg 18 on lake two for 27lbs. John fished long pole with sweetcorn as bait,
Second was team-mate Karl Lowe, who fished from permanent peg eight on lake four to take for an all-silver fish catch of 14lb-9oz. Karl fished at 16mtrs with caster over joker as bait.
D. Carroll was third when he caught a single carp for 13lb-3oz. In fourth spot was Charlie Moran (BAS Sensas) 11lb-6oz and fifth was Bill Brierley (Trevs Tackle) with 10lb-11oz.
Two teams on the day tied on seven points for first place - J. Battersby and A. Menzies (BAS Sensas) with C. Moran and S. Roberts (BAS Sensas) - while third place went to M. Rigsby and S. Hall (Team HB), who finished on ten points.
The overall leaderboard, after two matches, is: 1st C. Moran and S. Roberts (BAS Sensas) 23 pts, 2nd D. Holland and S. Wardle (Tricast Highfield) 25pts, 3rd J. Battersby and A. Menzies (BAS Sensas 26pts).
