A BOLTON supermarket is hoping to recruit a new staff member for a different kind of service.
Asda at Moss Bank Way, Astley Bridge is in search of a store chaplain.
The management have put out a plea to local clergymen and women of all denominations to consider the role, which demands an hour or two each week.
The "friendly shoulder " would be offered to both customers and staff, said store spokesperson Chris Shaw. "They may wish to talk about anything from the price of eggs, to what was on TV last night, through to more serious issues such as relationship problems."
Asda will provide a room for the chaplain to meet members of his or her "congregation" in an informal environment.
"The job is not about preaching," said Chris. "The chaplain will be there to chat or listen to customers and staff, whatever their faith."
Anyone wanting to know more about the role should contact Chris Shaw on 01204 306531.
