AFTER reading the article in The Citizen (January 9) about the springer spaniel that was rescued by firefighters from a freezing pond, I would like to say that I witnessed them save the dogs life.
At 9am on Wednesday, January 8, I saw fire and rescue crews bravely save the dog's life from an iced-up pond.
The approach to the task in hand was professional, efficient and effective.
That dog owes its life to those men and their cool efficiency in their everyday work.
Some may say, it was just a dog, I disagree. However, this is to miss the point being made, which is that these highly trained professionals are always available to help us all, we can not manage without them, the service they provide is invaluable.
Thanks on behalf of the dog that you rescued, who was actually called Duke.
