CALLS for tighter controls on the export of guns have been welcomed by Bolton West MP Ruth Kelly.
International Development Secretary Clare Short raised the issue during a conference this week as a way of preventing terrorists and criminals from gaining easy access to weapons.
Ms Kelly said: "Although the UK has some of the toughest gun laws in Europe, it is only through working with the rest of the international community that we can successfully tackle the illegal gun trade."
