NEW homes are set to built in Westhoughton, despite local residents objecting to the plans.
Caxton Webb Ltd is to develop land at Howarth Street, creating three pairs of semi-detached houses and a two storey building of eight apartments.
But Bolton Council's Planning Committee received six letters from neighbouring properties, raising concerns about the loss of light following the construction of the buildings and the increase in traffic.
The site has previously been used by industrial units but trees will need to be cut down once development starts.
Bolton Council's Trees and Woodland officers raised no objection as the trees are not of high amenity value.
Parking will also be created for 22 cars and the council's highway engineers have made recommendations about the access to the site, advising that the junction of Howarth Street with Park Lane should be widened.
