A MAN has been found dead in a town centre car park a day after a 30-year-old was jailed for killing his brother.
The body of Richard Satchell, aged 36, of Bury, was discovered yesterday morning in Knowsley Street car park, Bury, by council electrician Paul Griffin and his wife, Jane.
Gary Kelly, of David Lewis Close, Rochdale was jailed for 10 years for the manslaughter and conspiring to rob Rupert Satchell who was shot in the chest in May, 2001. Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding Richard Satchell's death and the matter has been passed to the coroner.
Mr Griffin said: "I had just parked the car and was walking up the road towards the town hall when I noticed an object in the car park and then realised it was a man.
"I went over to see if he was okay, or possibly just sleeping. But he was already dead." Police cordoned off the car park as detectives and forensic experts examined the scene and the man's body. His trousers were partially pulled down around his legs.
Detectives interviewed a schoolboy who claimed he had seen the man fall over the safety wall above the car park at around 7.45am.
It is not known if any other person was seen with the dead man. The car park remained closed to the public until late last night.
