WHILE most athletes performances tail off with the passage of time Horwich RMI Harrier Paul Muller just seems to get better and better.

He finished in a fantastic second place overall and first veteran runner in last Sunday's Garstang 10K Road Race in a time of 32.17.

The tough figure of eight route with a 2 mile and 4.2 mile lap proved no problem for Paul, despite being under par and on antibiotics.

He recorded his best ever time on this course and further demonstrated his enormous talent. Paul has now run this race six times, having previously been second, third twice, fourth and fifth.

Team-mates Barry Allman, Pete Watson and Eddie Swift competed well and it was great to see a relatively new member Ray Stafford, aged 64, racing for the first time in the club's colours.

He has only been running for six months and yet still recorded a creditable time of 50.21.
