BOLTON Council could easily resolve the controversy relating to traffic calming by introducing chicanes instead of humps.
These are very successful in reducing the speed of traffic in other parts of the country. They also eliminate the possibility of accidental vehicle damage and, unlike humps, do not disturb ambulance patients, or those with physical disabilities travelling in cars. It is also more difficult for a racer to speed over a chicane than a hump.
