CHORLEY are tracking former Manchester United trainee Colin Blain.
The 18-year-old left-sided midfielder has been without a club since he was released by the Old Trafford club last year.
He played in last night's Under 19 game against a Lancashire FA side and Magpies boss Mark Molyneaux was impressed.
"He is a cocky lad with a lot of potential and a lot of ability," he said.
"We will have a look at him over the next couple of weeks and play him in our Academy side."
The Magpies' youth team is a new addition to the club this season and Molyneaux says it has its benefits.
"We have always had three teams wherever we have been so when we came to Chorley Wayne Goodison and I wanted to set up an Under 19s.
"It means you can look at young players against their own age instead of in this league which can sometimes be too much.
"You don't want to knock a lad sideways, you want to encourage him and that can be the best way."
Molyneaux is still in talks with left-sided midfielder Carl Margison and goalkeeper Lennie Lawrence about moves to Victory Park . "Carl wants first team football and I don't guarantee anybody that," said Molyneaux. "And it looks like Lennie will sign."
And he explained his interest in left-sided midfielders by saying: "I need to put a bit of pressure on Darren Emmett. He is under-performing at the moment."
Chorley travel to Kendal tomorrow with the home side looking to avenge a 5-0 defeat at Victory Park earlier in the season.
Phil Lockett and Matthew Wright have returned to the club from their loan spell at Hyde. Wright is considering another loan move, to NWCL side Congleton.
