BOLTON Under 15s are through to the semi-finals of the Greater Manchester Schools' County Cup after beating Salford 3-1 in their quarter-final clash.

Bolton made a marvellous start and forced Salford o nto the defensive from the kick-off before opening their account in the 5th minute with a John Fairhurst close range volley.

Salford bounced back, equalising with a 25 yard free kick from Chris Bagley, but Bolton restored their lead five minutes later with a spectacular 30-yard shot from Fairhurst.

In a pulsating second half, Bolton clinched victory with a Billy McGuinness goal ten minutes from time.

Bury Under 15s' quarter-final tie at Stockport was postponed, as was Bolton Under 14s' Greater Manchester Schools' Talbot Cup quarter-final against Manchester.

The two teams tried to rearrange the match in Manchester at the Armitage Centre but that pitch was also unplayable.
