A NEW leisure centre was due to be opened today by the woman who swam the first length in a resort's original baths.
Enid Jackson helped open the pool when she was just 13 and now, at the age of 87, she was to repeat her role by opening Southport's new £3.8 million Dunes centre.
Mrs Jackson was chosen because of her family's links to swimming -- her son Neil swam for Britain in the 1968 Mexico Olympics. She said she was very impressed with the new facilities.
