HOUSING developers' plans to demolish a building and build three detached houses with garages have been rejected by Bolton Council.
Planning chiefs have refused the application because of the effect it will have on nearby conservation areas. D C Kennedy Homes Ltd planned to demolish Wayside, on Ladybridge Lane, to make way for three three-storey houses.
But residents raised a number of objections about the buildings and the increase traffic the development would cause near the site, and the loss of trees. A Cypress tree, an oak tree and a number of conifers, protected by the Conservation Order, would need to be cut down as part of the developers' plans. Bolton Council's tree and woodland officers also raised strong objections.
Letters were also sent to the council raising the issue of the proposed demolition of Wayside on the grounds that it is part of a Conservation Area and should be preserved. Bolton and District Civic Trust also raised objections.
