Charlton 1, Wanderers 1: YOURI Djorkaeff scored a vital equaliser with an incredible overhead kick in the 85th minute to grab a point in the crunch Premiership battle at The Valley.
Fellow strugglers Sunderland lost 2-1 to Everton at Goodison Park despite taking a lead, while West Brom drew 0-0 at Elland Road so Wanderers have gained another point advantage over the team from the Stadium of Light who beat them in the FA Cup earlier this week.
Earlier, Wanderers old boy Mark Fish gave Charlton a 1-0 lead after 47 minutes and to rub salt into the wound the goal was initially made by another Wanderers old boy Claus Jensen!
Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce made eight changes to the team which lost 2-0 at Sunderland in Tuesday's FA Cup third round replay.
The three players who survived from the starting XI on Wearside were Mike Whitlow, Kevin Nolan and Youri Djorkaeff, meaning Per Frandsen returned for his 250th career league appearance and leading scorer Michael Ricketts notched up his 200th club appearance.
