FOR the last two months, when I have received my Barclaycard Visa statement from their Bolton office, I have been annoyed by the new format address on their pre-printed return envelope.
Between "Bolton" and the "BL postcode" is the line "Great Britain". No mention of Lancashire!
As a true Cheshire man, I would resent it if my town was billed as in Great Britain rather than Cheshire, and suspect you, and your readers, react similarly.
Can you imagine the outcry if they were to put "Belfast, Great Britain", or "Edinburgh, Great Britain"?
When sending back my payment I have now twice crossed through the "Great Britain" and inserted by the side "Lancashire" in big, bold letters. I shall continue to do so until it is altered. I guess a phone call might be interesting!
