DRIVERS were caught in tailbacks on the M60 early today.

A series of broken down cars appeared to be the cause for the jams on the notoriously busy Manchester ring-road -- causing delays of more than 20 minutes.

The build-up came just a day after plans to appoint a roads tsar for Greater Manchester were revealed. A high-powered traffic manager is set to look after the county to ensure roadworks and accidents do not cause too much peak-hour congestion.
