THE FAMILY of a father-of-two involved in a car accident have said they are taking his recovery one day at a time.
Henry Stevens, aged 58, of Hillside Avenue, Blackrod, was crossing the A6 Manchester Road at the junction with Station Road when he was in collision with a Volkswagen Golf.
Mr Stevens, a lorry driver, had been walking home from his job at Greens of Blackrod.
He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Hope Hospital in Manchester, where he was heavily sedated and given a tracheotomy to help his breathing.
Mr Stevens also underwent surgery on his right leg. His condition was described as stable.
His son Matthew, aged 23, who lives in Runcorn, has been staying at the family home with his mother Norma, aged 56, and brother Mark, aged 27, since the accident.
He said: "His head injuries are still very serious, so we are just taking it day by day."
