HEATHER Dixon is on the hunt for the next Hollywood blockbuster -- right here in Bolton!
Heather, aged 23, of Round Barn Farm in Edgworth, is scouting for scripts from up-and-coming writers that could be turned into hit movies.
Last year Heather, a former pupil of Turton School, worked for top Hollywood producer Laura Bickford in her Universal Studios offices in Los Angeles . But she has returned to this country to launch a script service designed to help budding screenwriters.
She said: "Working in Hollywood was an incredible experience. Laura is regarded as one of the industry's most exciting young producers.
"She produced the multiple Oscar winning film 'Traffic' with Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta Jones.
"In my day to day work, I spoke to several big stars on the phone and actually got to meet Heather Graham when she came into the office to discuss getting hold of a producer for her next project.
"But the most interesting people I met were the writers and producers.
"It was my job to read the scripts that were submitted to the film companies.
"Then I had to write coverage notes -- basically a summary of the plot -- and decide whether the script had any potential as a film. I now know the scripts for quite a lot of this year's biggest film release, but unfortunately I'm sworn to secrecy!
"I have been asked to do a similar role here in the UK by a number of independent producers who want me to bring new projects to them."
Here in Britain, Heather has worked for Nik Powell, producer of the Oscar-winning Crying Game.
She has also lectured on script writing at Bradford University and now plans to build up a bank of writers and scripts.
She said: "I need to contact writers in the North-west who would like a professional opinion of their screenplay.
"I will read their script and in return give back constructive feedback.
"If I unearth any diamonds, I will put them forward to one of the production companies. I have contacts in London and Hollywood who are constantly looking for quality new material..
"I also have copies of actual Hollywood scripts which I can show people as examples of how they are set out."
