THE world's first giant motorised dustbin rumbled into East Lancashire this week.
The Reth!nk Rubbish Giant Bin visited Chorley to encourage people to recycle more of their rubbish.
Measuring more than three metres high and 2.5metres wide, the giant bin formed the centrepiece of a fun, interactive roadshow on Market Walk.
The event included giveaways and information galore in a bid to give shoppers an insight into rubbish, as well as simple tips and advice on how making small changes to shopping, work or household routines can make a difference to the amount of rubbish we produce.
The roadshow was part of Lancashire's ongoing 'Rethink Rubbish' campaign -- a partnership between Lancashire County Council, Chorley Borough Council and a number of other district councils.
It aims to reduce the 700 tonnes of rubbish thrown away in Chorley every week -- the same weight as 86 double-decker buses.
