SAM Allardyce is still pursuing Valencia striker Salva Ballesta, according to reports in Spain.

The Wanderers' boss suggested last week that the 27-year-old Spain international was out of his price range but the player's agent, Juan Maraver, reckons a loan deal could still be struck: "There has been contact between Valencia and Bolton, there is a strong interest for Salva Ballesta but the clubs have still to reach an agreement," he said.

"The player admires English football and believes that a move to Bolton would be a good introduction to the English Premiership as long as a satisfactory agreement is reached for the three parties."
