IN 1971, the Bolton Catholic Boys' Club climaxed a brilliant season by winning the LFA Under-18 Youth Cup - becoming the first junior league in the county to take the trophy three times.
Their other successes were in 1959-60, and 1962-63. The club had also won the Bolton Boys' Federation Walker Cup and the Lancashire Association of Boys' Clubs Five-a-Side Trophy.
In the League, they finished fourth, even though they scored 142 goals in 29 matches, and conceded only 36
