YOUNGSTERS at a Leigh school are being taught maths for breakfast.
Extra pre-school lessons have started for pupils at Leigh St Thomas CE School to help them brush up on their arithmetic.
The lessons are part of a new programme -- RM Maths Portfolio -- being launched in Wigan and introduced into schools within the Leigh Education Action Zone.
The computer-based course is designed for primary pupils.
The Breakfast Club has been launched at St Thomas for a trial period. After a tentative start, 17 pupils now attend the 'corn flakes' class.
Teachers have now scheduled extra maths lessons for lunchtimes.
