A MOBILE 'cooking bus' has rolled into Bolton.
Children from Smithills School had the chance to cook foods from around the globe in an articulated trailer which has been converted into a kitchen.
During the bus's three day stay Year eight, nine and 10 pupils expanded their knowledge about food, including how to make a salsa and Jamaican Patties. Food technology teacher Carrie Goth said: "This week has been a fantastic opportunity for our pupils. It has opened their eyes to other cultures and foods."
Year nine pupils Rebecca Brookfield and Leeza Thatcher said: "We learnt a lot about spices and their origins. We saw where they came from and how other cultures eat. The best thing was that we didn't have to wash up - the teachers did!"
The bus, sponsored by Waitrose in association with the Royal Society of the Arts and has been touring secondary schools around the country to involve pupils in food preparation and cooking. Pictured cooking up a good time are pupils Fatimah Adda, Laura Shannon, Rebecca Brookfield and Jemma Costello.
