FOUR-legged crimefighters from Greater Manchester Police will become TV stars next week.

The Mounted Unit and Dog sections will feature on a week of Pet Rescue programmes on Channel 4 from Monday, when the animals can be seen carrying out a wide range of duties.

Insp David Willcocks, of the Mounted Unit, said: "We were delighted to be able to take people behind the scenes to show what the animals do to make the streets safer."

Greater Manchester Police has around 40 horses and 149 dogs.
