A WOMAN patient at the Royal Bolton Hospital died of a heart attack after being admitted for tests, an inquest heard.

Barbara Bray, of Valletts Lane, Bolton, was admitted to hospital on April 18 last year complaining of abdominal pains.

Because of her previous complicated medical history doctors thought she was suffering from a pancreas infection and she underwent various tests before receiving treatment.

Mrs Bray, aged 61, appeared to be recovering but on April 29 she was discovered unconscious in her hospital bed and died despite efforts to resuscitate her.

A post mortem examination revealed the only possible cause of death was a sudden heart attack.

Bolton coroner Jennifer Leeming recorded the cause of Mrs Bray's death as natural causes.
