BRITAIN'S tallest sculpture will cost an estimated £750,000. The 184ft floodlit artwork is set to be positioned outside the City of Manchester Stadium, which played host to the Commonwealth Games.
Designer Tom Heatherwick's structure features 200 tapered columns shooting from its centre and looks like a firework explosion.
It will be built before Manchester City Football Club take over the stadium in August and it is being funded by the North West Development Agency and the European Regional Development Fund.
The sculpture is expected to bring thousands of tourists to east Manchester which is currently undergoing a transformation.
