Leigh RMI 1 Woking 0 by Martyn Hindley

BACK to back wins and a renewed liking to keeping clean sheets means Hilton Park is back to being 'home sweet home' for Leigh RMI.

It wasn't always pretty as the Railwaymen tussled with Woking in this Conference relegation six-pointer.

However, a combination of sturdy defence, injury to visitors' star striker Warren Patmore and Ged Courtney's super strike seven minutes from time afforded the hosts their first win on their home turf in over two months.

With a goalless draw looming, Courtney latched onto a loose ball in the danger zone and smashed a left-footed drive inside Shwan Jalal.

Courtney partnered Dino Maamria after replacing the lively Daniel Bent up front and the lively Tunisian threatened to add to his impressive goal tally by wreaking further havoc.

Jalal was called into action to deny him with a breathtaking diving stop on the stroke of half-time and he was to foil the ex-Southport frontman again as he intercepted a Phil Salt through ball in the nick of time.

Salt himself has taken a vow to pepper every goalkeeper he sees with menacing efforts from distance and this week it almost paid off. His first time volley from the edge of the area thundered to safety off the bar.

Woking's best chance spanned from a Stuart Coburn error that allowed Warren Patmore to attempt but RMI were saved by his temporary loss of direction.

Hearts were aflutter late on as well when Raphael Nade rose to head against the top of the crossbar in stoppage time.
