WHILE the list you have compiled on Wanderers goals can't possibly be all encompassing, as it omits anything pre-1976, it is not a bad reflection of the best goals of more recent times.
I would maybe omit the Nathan Blake goal in favour of Ricardo Gardner's recent effort against Newcastle, which I thought was a magnificent strike.
I would strongly disagree too, that the Ricketts goal you selected is his best Bolton goal. I think the one he scored at home against Chelsea last season is his best, and I can't think of many current strikers who could have drawn and committed a keeper of Cudicini's class so quickly and in such limited space.
In my opinion this was a world-class finish, whereas the Arsenal goal, spectacular though it was, included, by his own admission, a piece of mis-control when he inadvertently flicked the ball up into the air.
From a personal point of view, I found it interesting to run down the list and recall that, apart from Frank Worthington's goal against Ipswich and Curcic's at Chelsea, I was a spectator at all the other games, so maybe I've enjoyed good value for money down the years.
I remember Mark Winstanley's vividly. it was absolutely freezing that night with one or two mini-blizzards during the match driving straight at the handful of away supporters standing on the Burnden Park embankment.
The Wanderers were playing poorly and trailing 1-0, prompting the man sitting in front of me to vent his frustration.
"Why do they have to try and walk the ball into the net?" he said despairingly before making a quick exit.
Within seconds Winstanley unleashed an amazing shot from only a few yards outside the centre-circle and it flew into the top corner of the net.
I still don't think I've seen another goal scored from as far out as that one. It really was amazing. And the bloke in front of me missed it.
