PETER Johnson has for obvious reason still not got the message over his "cherished" euro.

The fact of the matter is that the majority of like-minded people, rich or poor, do not want it. Even people who go abroad for their holidays are not keen on it.

There was an excellent letter by Les Arnott of Sheffield, who has stated that Spanish inflation is at four per cent and, last year, price increases in shopping baskets totalled 18 per cent! Also jobless figures fell outside the euro zone, and the reverse trend was found within.

By coincidence I accidentally recorded, on my video, part of a programme showing young people playing a mock battle in a swimming pool. The battle was a re-enactment of the war with Spain. At the finish, a young man stated that, in the 21st century, we have seen too much European interference via wars from past centuries. He was wearing a Union Jack with "Referendum Party" on his bathing costume, which I glimpsed as he turned away. Pity only a minute of it was recorded. So this young man was exactly on my line. It is irrelevant how long ago any major war was, but the Second World War was the most serious and destructive.

I was born only three years after its ending and, at school, the Second World War was defined as "Modern History". Even without the war with European countries, I would still be dead set against a common currency, other than our own if they would adopt it. As things stand, it is adding insult to injury to go along with the deluded Europhiles.
