CHORLEY manager Mark Molyneaux rang the changes ahead of his side's home game over Trafford at the weekend.
And he said he wouldn't be afraid to make more alterations for tonight's Lancashire FA Marsden Trophy clash at Morecambe, even though the Magpies cruised to a 4-0 win.
The Chorley boss made three changes for Saturday, bringing in Billy McCartney for Lee Southwood at the heart of the defence, striker Lee Wilkinson for Andy Mason and Anthony Hogan for Pete Weston. And Hogan repaid his manager with a brace.
But Molyneaux said that would not guarantee him a place in tonight's starting line-up against Nationwide Conference outfit Morecambe.
"No-one is guaranteed a place, that depends on how you do in training during the week, not just the games," he said.
"Usually in cup games we play some of our fringe players because we've got such a big squad, but I'll maybe make only one or two changes tonight, probably up front and in defence because I'm always looking to tighten up defensively.
"And I'm confident that whoever I bring in will do a good job for us. I don't make changes for the sake of it."
He added: "I'm looking forward to the game because I look forward to every game. Whether it's testimonials, friendlies or training games I don't like losing any of them.
"This is a chance for us to test ourselves. It may take a few years to get there but that (the Conference) is where we want to be."
Molyneaux admitted he had been disappointed with recent defensive displays but was delighted to get a positive response from his players at Victory Park on Saturday.
"We could have won 8-0 against Trafford, which makes a change because for the last two games we've been poor defensively," Molyneaux said.
"A few strong words have been said in the last couple of training sessions regarding the back five. They haven't been communicating well together and have cost us eight schoolboy goals.
"But we got a positive reaction at the weekend, they answered the pressure, and it was great for them to get a clean sheet because that reflects well on your performance. And hopefully we will have a repeat performance at Morecambe tonight."
And the Chorley boss said he was delighted with striker Lee Wilkinson, who has put his 10-week knee injury problem firmly behind him.
"He has trained like a demon and played well in the reserves, and that is reflected in the team selection."
