NORTHERN Stage Ensemble, in conjunction with Derby Playhouse, presents the George Orwell classic 1984 at The Lowry from Tuesday to Saturday, January 28 to February 1.
The gritty drama focuses on Winston Smith who inwardly rebels against the regime that controls him. In this production, Orwell's harrowing vision is of a society controlled through Newspeak, Doublethink and the all-knowing Big Brother.
Northern Stage Ensemble has developed a reputation for exceptional visually driven theatre and this new multi-media version of Orwell's classic nightmare novel promises to live up to expectations. There is also a range of linked educational events and post show discussions.
