IN 1934, there were not many cars on the road compared with today, but obviously they created some problems, and new motoring and pedestrian signs were being erected in Bolton "to assist road safety".
The pictures showed, left, one of the new signs, with overhead illumination, at a pedestrian crossing in Deansgate, and, right, one of the new warning signs to motorists at the approach to the Folds Road-Manor Street junction from Kay Street.
