MANCHESTER Airport has applied for planning permission to have a number of historic aircraft on permanent display at its aviation viewing park.
It is hoped the planes will go on display near junction 6 of the M56 to mark 100 years of powered flight.
This year marks the centenary of the first powered flight by the Wright brothers in North Carolina -- on December 17, 1903.
