AN historic textile mill which was built for the use of steam power around 200 years ago is to be restored and turned into apartments and offices.

Murray's Mill in Ancoats is the only remaining mill complex in Manchester, and was built between 1798 and 1806.

The project -- funded by Lottery money and the North West Development Agency -- is part of the regeneration of the area.

Architect Ken Moth says Manchester's industrial history should be preserved rather than demolished.
