TWO young artists came top in a national competition to design a safety poster.
Former Bolton College graphic students Helen Booth and Andrew Buttery impressed the judges in the competition run by the British Glove Association, which promotes the safety of hands and fingers in the workplace.
Helen came first and won £200 while runner-up Andrew took home £100. About 75,000 of each of the winning posters will be distributed by Zurich Insurance and the Trade & General Workers Union to industrial premises over the coming months.
During the period of 2000/2001 there were more than 129,000 major injuries that resulted in more than three days off work.
More than 16,000 of these injuries were to one or more fingers.
