YOUNGSTERS have enjoyed the chance to develop their artistic skills thanks to coaching from a professional.

Ceramic artist Katie O'Neil has shared her expertise with Year 10 pupils from Harper Green School who are busy producing GCSE coursework.

The teenagers worked with the former Bolton School pupil to produce large clay sculptures.

The same group of pupils have also had their drawings and paintings displayed in a supermarket.

Asda at Farnworth donated fresh fruit and vegetables for the pupils' still life classes and then offered exhibition space.

at the Brackley Street store.

Head of Art at the Farnworth school, Samantha Brain, said: "One of the most important aspects of creating art is to have it viewed by other people.

"This boosts the confidence of our pupils and encourages them to create new and exciting work."
