ENGLAND will play France in the quarter-finals of the World Sevens after winning both their pool games in Sydney.
Andy Farrell's side claimed top spot in Pool E with a convincing 30-8 success over Tonga before seeing off the tournament qualifiers, the NASCA Aboriginals, 18-10.
France booked their spot in the last eight at Aussie Stadium with victories over Papua New Guinea and Samoa in a tough Pool F.
National Rugby League side Sydney Roosters, who face St Helens in the World Club Challenge later this month, were surprise casualties as South Sydney Rabbitohs topped Pool B.
Brisbane Broncos and Newcastle Knights were also dumped out of the main draw by Canberra Raiders and Manly Sea Eagles respectively.
The last eight will be made up by Cronulla, defending champions Parramatta and St George-Illawarra.
The remaining sides now go forward to the plate and bowl competitions.
