Wildlife Attractions

Bolton Aquarium

For unique views into the aquatic world visit Bolton Museum where there are fantastic fish on display from all over the world, some highly threatened in their natural habitats. From Piranhas to Pufferfish, huge Catfish to tiny Tetras, there are hundreds of fish to come and see in an aquarium designed to allow the fish to behave as they would in the wild. There is now the unique chance to name our new Lungfish from Queensland, Australia, which will be on display in the very near future.

Nicholas Pace - Unnatural Habitat

In this fascinating and unique exhibition Nicholas Pace looks at Natural History collections to explore our complex and often uneasy relationship with animals. Pace has investigated the archives of a number of the best Natural History collections in the country, including the Natural History Musuem, London, to produce his paintings, drawings and photography. Runs until Saturday, February 22.

Captive Bred

This quirky and thought provoking exhibition features the work of several artists who question our relationship with animals, through painting, photography, sculpture and print. Often transformed into human puppets, domestic animals have become almost realistic toys. While truly wild animals remain elusive, their cuddly equivalents are a familiar sight in toy shops and department stores - discover if it really is the case of survival of the cutest.

Behind the Scenes Tour

A Tour of Botany Store will take place on Thursday, February 27, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. Admission is free but you need to book in advance. Tel: 332211.
