Bolton 3rd XI 3 vs. Didsbury Northern 1: AN impressive John Woods hat-trick proved the difference as Bolton Hockey Club 3rd beat Didsbury Northern 3-1.
Sloppy play led to the opening goal for Didsbury but with Woods leading the attack and the striking, it was only a matter of time before Bolton would draw level. Woods first strike was saved superbly by the Didsbury goalkeeper, but when Bolton were awarded another penalty corner, he made no mistake by calmly flicking the ball over the goalkeeper's despairing dive to equalise.
In the second half things improved and Woods fired Bolton into the lead with an unstoppable shot. Woods' third came following a break up of a Didsbury attack.
In dreadful weather conditions BHC Ladies drew 2-2 with Mantos.
A breakthrough finally came though for BHC when Jenny Cocker slipped the ball under the keeper just before half time to go into the break one up.
The second half started much the same as the first with the sides having an equal amount of possession and chances. Mantos started the stronger though this time and soon equalised. Despite having a number of one on ones with the Mantos goalkeeper the BHC forwards failed to respond and soon Mantos broke through and scored again to make it 2-1, scoring a good goal at the far post.
To their credit though and despite the horrendous conditions BHC rallied on and scored an equaliser five minutes from time when Charlotte Harrison created a chance for Kate Froggatt to slot home.
